Since the middle of the twentieth century, Simmel
Difesa has been involved in the defence sector, always
maintaining a leading position amongst the European
defence organisation.
It was established in 1948 as the Italian company
dedicated to the production of large calibre ammunition.
From 1948 a permanent growth has underlined the history
of Simmel Difesa, which was acquired in 1988 by Fiat
Group with the aim to further develop the production
to: medium calibre munition, fuzes, propelling powder,
rockets and missile warheads.
In this period the assets and experience of BPD for
explosive and Borletti for fuzes were added to Simmel
difesa. In the year 2000 new share holder acquired
the company to further develop the business prospective.
